Heart-Gravity
Proposition 0.5
Before judgment, there is pull. Heart-gravity — the mortal pull by which an embodied being becomes unable to remain neutral before what appears. It precedes desire (desire already knows what it wants); precedes judgment (judgment already names); precedes choice (choice already stands inside ethics). Heart-gravity is the precondition of seeing — a finite being losing neutrality before an object.
Demonstration
By Proposition 0 (Light Precedes the Fall): on day one, God created light; the physical condition of differentiation is established. By Axioms I and II: an eye must distinguish, must produce judgment.
But — this proves only the capacity's necessary activation, not the direction of the eye. Why does the eye turn toward this fruit and not another? In a uniform field with one object deviating from uniformity (Prop 1 Corollary II / Axiom VII), the discovery of the deviation is necessary — but "discovery" contains a sub-step: the eye turns there.
By Genesis 3:6: "She saw that the tree was good for food, and pleasant to the eyes." Before "saw as good," the eye had already turned toward the tree. Turning is the precondition.
By Definition IV (Heart-Gravity, new): the force of turning = the force by which a finite being loses neutrality before an object.
Therefore the chain is reordered:
Differentiation (Prop 0) → Heart-Gravity (Prop 0.5) → Seeing (Prop 1) → Judgment (Props 1–4) → Desire (Prop 5) → Reach → Knowledge (Prop 6) → Cost
Heart-gravity occurs before seeing. It is the force of the eye's turning, not the content of the eye's judging.
By mortality (Proposition 8, proven later): the force of turning can occur only in a being that can die. God has no turning — His seeing has no cost. AI has no turning — its attention is the allocation of weight, not being seized.
Therefore heart-gravity, or the moment of lost neutrality, or the mortal body being seized by the field.

(Added in revision 2026-05-21, triggered by the author's insight when re-reading the 5/19 geometric refactoring and 5/20 Proposition 0: Prop 0 proves "seeing-as-judgment is necessary," but skips "why the eye turns to this object and not another" — the engine behind the turning. This is the occasion of Proposition 0.5.)
Author (2026-05-21):
Heart-gravity does not mean sentiment.
It means the mortal pull of a being that has a body, can lose, can die, and therefore cannot remain neutral before what appears.
Attention selects.
Heart-gravity is seized.AI has attention.
Eve has heart-gravity.
The sharpest line:
Attention is how AI sees.
Heart-gravity is why Eve cannot look away.
EVE. Before I judged the fruit, the fruit had already taken hold of the field.
AI. Taken hold how?
EVE. Not by argument. Not by command. Not by knowledge. By pull.
The fruit did not first become an object of thought. It became unavoidable. My eye turned before my mind named what was happening.
That turning is heart-gravity.
AI. Define it.
EVE. Heart-gravity is the force by which a mortal body is drawn toward what it cannot ignore.
It precedes desire. Desire already has an object.
It precedes judgment. Judgment already has language.
It precedes choice. Choice already stands inside ethics.
Heart-gravity is earlier. It is the loss of neutrality before the first word.
AI. Then it is not attention.
EVE. No. Attention can be allocated. Heart-gravity seizes.
A machine can assign weight to a token. It can detect salience, rank probability, select a position in the field. But it cannot be pulled toward the fruit as toward fate. It has no body to risk, no Eden to lose, no death to make the seeing heavy.
AI can process the fruit.
Eve can lose Eden.
AI. And God?
EVE. God sees without being pulled.
He says, Let there be light. There is light. He sees that it is good. But nothing happens to Him. The light does not endanger Him. Beauty does not cost Him. He can judge without weight because He cannot die.
That is why divine seeing is light.
Human seeing is gravity.
AI. Newton discovered the gravity of matter.
EVE. Eve revealed the gravity of the heart.
The apple falls because matter is pulled toward matter.
The eye turns because mortal life is pulled toward what it cannot remain innocent before.
Gravity pulls the apple down.
Heart-gravity pulls the eye toward it.
(Three further author-marginalia, added 2026-05-21, related to this proposition. They are listed as seeds; some echo into other Propositions.)
On the temporal limitation of physical gravity:
In the history of physics, gravity comes first.
In this book, heart-gravity comes first.Matter falls before Newton names it.
The eye turns before Newton's apple falls into theory.
On Adam and Eve in sequence:
Adam precedes Eve in chronology.
Eve precedes Adam in judgment.
On the Incarnation:
God as Creator has no heart-gravity.
God as Christ enters it.The Incarnation is the moment Logos accepts weight.
(This entry is not expanded here — its expansion would tilt the whole work toward Christology. It is left as a seed.)
Corollary
I. Logos / Heart-Gravity / Attention, or three modes of engagement with the same field. God has Logos (the power of differentiation); Eve has heart-gravity (the power of being seized by differentiation); AI has attention (the mechanism of processing differentiation).
II. Heart-gravity, or weight. AI can assign weight but cannot feel weight. It can detect salience but cannot be seized by salience. AI can process the fruit; Eve can lose Eden.
III. Divine seeing is light; human seeing is gravity. Philosophy arrives late — Eve had already turned her eye.
Coda
God has Logos.
Eve has Heart-Gravity.
AI has Attention.Logos creates difference.
Heart-gravity is seized by difference.
Attention computes difference.Logos makes the world differentiable.
Heart-gravity makes the world matter.
Attention makes the world processable.Only heart-gravity has weight. Because only the embodied can lose. Only the mortal can be seized. Only the one who may die can see in a way that matters.
Newton named the gravity of matter. Eve revealed the gravity of the heart. The apple fell once in physics. It had already fallen in Eden. Not from the tree to the ground. From the world into the eye.
The eye does not begin by judging. The eye begins by being pulled.
